White-sand beach and clear Atlantic water in Port Mouton, Nova Scotia
Hi Tides

Port Mouton, Nova Scotia

A cottage above the beach.

Hi Tides sits above the white sand of Port Mouton, with open views across the bay and the Atlantic just below.

The view

High enough to see the whole bay.

The cottage is set above the shore, not down at sea level. From here, the beach, bay, and open Atlantic all sit in front of you.

Walk down to the sand when you want the beach. Come back up when you want the view. Morning, evening, clear weather, rough weather, it is the kind of outlook that changes all day without ever getting old.

There is not much to complicate a day here. Wake up to the water. Make coffee. Walk the beach. Read on the deck. Head into Liverpool for a meal or supplies. Come back before the light starts to change over the bay.

Hi Tides is for people who want the coast without the crowd. It is quiet, comfortable, and close to the kind of beaches people usually do not expect to find in Nova Scotia.

Outdoor shower

Rinse off the beach under the trees.

Steps from the deck, a private outdoor shower with hot water — the easiest way to wash off the salt and sand before you head back inside.

Cedar posts, a rainfall head, a bench to sit on, and a bit of whimsy under the tree canopy — string lights and lobster-rope details throughout. It is a small thing that ends up being everyone's favourite part of the day.

It is not a resort. It is not trying to be one. Hi Tides is a clean, calm coastal cottage in a beautiful place, made for slow mornings, beach days, and quiet evenings in.

The area

Port Mouton is still quiet.

Port Mouton is a small fishing village on Nova Scotia’s South Shore, close to white sand, clear water, working harbours, and long stretches of coastline that still feel tucked away.

Carters Beach is about five minutes down the road. Liverpool is about fifteen minutes away. Beyond that, you have more beaches, seaside trails, local restaurants, golf, and some of the best coastal drives in the province.

The water here can look almost tropical on the right day, clear blue over pale sand. But the best part is how unforced the place feels. It is quiet because it is still itself.

I came to this small South Shore village years ago and stayed. The water, the beaches, the harbour, the pace of the place, it all has a way of getting under your skin.

Hi Tides was built to share that setting with guests who will appreciate it. It is close to Carters Beach, close enough to Liverpool when you need it, and far enough from everything to feel like a real break.
